Made it Home

MO Highlights

-Left around 7:45AM. It started to snow as I turned out of the motel and hit the I-44E.
-After turning North on 71 I changed gloves to my last dry pair, winter Skiing gloves.
-After about an hour I stopped at MickyD’s for some coffee and to warm up. Thought it would be a good idea to get off the highway since I started seeing salt trucks. Temp=34degrees.
-After about an hour I started north again knowing it would get warmer and hoping for dry pavement. The road got slushy and at one point I was going 10-15mph with feet off the pegs almost touching the ground. The snow continued and I had to keep wiping my face mask.
-I hit dryer pavement about an 1 ½ hours S. of KC, MO
-75 miles south of KC, dry pavement for the 1st time!!!
-Made it through KC and headed for Des Moines.

IA Highlights

-The trip from KC to Des Moines was GREAT. Nice roads, dry pavement and a little sun. -I met a friend in Des Moines and I followed him Ames (Thanks Joel). Had dinner in Ames (Hickory Park Restaurant Co. – I would recommend it) with him and another friend who road down on his Wing from Rochester. It was great to have company on the road for the last few hours (Thanks Wayne).
-Rolled into home a little after 9PM.
-Total miles 909miles.
